Finham Park School celebrates the best Post 16 Results in over a decade

Students and staff at Finham Park school are celebrating their best year of Post 16 results in more than a decade with over 30% of grades at A/A* and 62% of grades at A*-B (an increase of 15% from last year). The average grade achieved across all A Level subjects is a B and for all technical qualifications, a distinction, with both male and female students having attained equally good grades. Three students achieved 3 or more A* grades, with 17 achieving straight A/A*s. Students eligible for free school meals performed exceptionally.
We are delighted that the significant majority of students have obtained the grade required to move to their first-choice destination in September. A record number of students have applied to Russell Group universities, and we are confident that 100% of students will progress to the next stage of their education or into work. Over 120 of the students heading to university are on track for their first-choice destination.
Suzie Green, Head of Sixth commented that, “this cohort are a year group like no other. They are unusual in that they have done an awful lot to change the school, and I am confident they will go on to change the world. They have also worked hard to achieve an excellent set of grades.”
Sumayyah who achieved A* in Biology and Computer Science, and an A in Maths is going on to a degree apprenticeship at Jaguar Land Rover. When asked about the secret to her success Sumayyah said, “consistency is very important and as soon as you don’t understand something go to your teachers who can help. I really appreciate all the help and support that my teachers have given me throughout the last 7 years.”
Karam who achieved A* in Maths and Further Maths, and an A in Computer Science will be heading off to study MORSE (Maths, Operational Research, Statistics, Economics) at the University of Warwick. Karam said, “I’m quite relieved and happy about the results and glad all the hard work and consistent effort have paid off.”
Headteacher, David Bedford remarked, “We are delighted to see how the hard work of our students has been demonstrated in these excellent results. My heartfelt gratitude goes to our amazing staff and our wonderfully supportive parents who do so much to support our young people. We look forward to hearing of their successes in the future”.
We are incredibly proud of all of our students and wish them well for their next steps.
