Celebrating Reading Success Across Key Stage 3

As part of our continued focus on reading, we are delighted to celebrate the success of a group of Key Stage 3 students who have made significant improvements in their reading accuracy on Sparx Reader since the Autumn term.
The students were identified through Sparx Reader data as having made some of the strongest progress in their respective year groups. They have impressed their teachers not only through improved accuracy, but also through their enthusiasm for reading and their ability to talk confidently about a wide range of texts, genres and plots they have explored in recent months.
We would like to congratulate Billy, Olivia and Martha (Year 8), alongside Liyana, Harry, Chloe and Max (Year 7), and Daisy and Abhay (Year 9), for their commitment and perseverance. Their progress demonstrates the impact of regular reading practice and a positive attitude to learning.
During discussions, students spoke enthusiastically about the breadth of reading material available through Sparx Reader and showed a clear understanding of how reading supports their learning across all subjects.
We were also joined by Walter (Year 7), who delivered an impassioned and highly articulate speech explaining why Iago is the greatest Shakespeare villain of all time, showcasing the confidence and analytical skills reading helps to develop.
Each student was recognised with the opportunity to select a free book, celebrating both their achievements and their growing love of reading.
We would like to close by expressing our sincere gratitude to Mr Smith, Director of English, and Mrs Reardon, Deputy SENDCo, for their continued dedication to promoting a culture of reading across the school. Their leadership and commitment ensure that all students are supported, encouraged and inspired to develop as confident, engaged readers.
Well done to all students involved – your progress is something to be proud of.
