Year 6 Welcome to our Year 6 students.
School Diary 6th September 2011 Dear diary, After the first bell went me and all my friends (as well as all the new Year 7 students) went to the sports hall and had an assembly. Mr Bailie, the headteacher, told us all about the school, consequences, teachers and subjects. The head of each collage was there as well. After twenty minutes we went to our mentor. I saw my friend and we went together. I only had two lessons and the rest of my time I was with Mr Hewit (my mentor). Mr Hewit was exceptionally helpful and very polite to everyone. Every five minutes Mr Hewir would ask if the Year 7 students were OK. We all talked to eachother and got to know everyone and more about each other. After a while we got into two teams to go on a treasure hunt around the school. I just followed the year 8s, 9s and 10s (the year 11s weren't there yet). My team finished and we went to our mentor room shouting, "We won! We won!" Mr Hewit gave us loads of sweets because we were the first ones back! Five seconds later the other team came in and the boys took some sweets (even though they didn' win!). Later, it was time to go to class and we got our planners which had our timetable in. I went to Maths and Science. I really enjoyed today because my new teachers and subjects look GREAT! Chat soon, By Sarina Nana-Jogia & Amelia Roebuck (Year 7) 6th June 2011 Hello again, We are really looking forward to this brand new half term ahead of us, because this time, there is even more fun activities! There are seven weeks in this last half term but however, only four weeks are the normal year 7 time table. From the 5th to the 8th of July it is Shine week, a week of exciting and different activities for year groups and colleges, one including sports day. Year 7 get a second opportunity to go to SNO!ZONE, a great day out in Milton-Keynes, to get the chance to have a go at sledging, skydiving and much more! Does that sound fun? Well there is also an art trip and a fun Humanities day out at Warwick castle to get involved with during the week as well. On sports day there is plenty of sports and games to earn your college lots of points, from sack race to 100m sprint! We both are participating in a few races that we will hopefully do well in. The last two weeks will be different to Primary School as it turns into the year 8 timetable, so that we know what teachers we have when we come back in September. Well, that's it for now, we hope you like our blog!Bye :) By Sarina Nana-Jogia & Amelia Roebuck (Year 7) 21st February 2011 Hello! Mentor time is from 8:50 to 9:05 where you can chat and your mentor will give you notices. You have assembly on different days according to which gate you're in: North on Monday, West on Tuesday, South on Wednesday and East on Thursday. Sometimes there is assembly just for your year but your mentor will tell you when there is one. The topic of each assembly differs and depends on if there are any trips or fundraising activities (that we have been having a lot of recently) e.g. cake sale, sponsored silence etc. Lots of people worry most about getting lost, even we worried about it LOADS when we were in Year 6! You might think oh they're just saying that but believe me I thought that too and anyway if you get lost in the first week teachers will let you off. In the pack you will get when you start telling you what mentor you are in there will be leaflets explaining how the timetable works because at first it may look like just a bunch of letters and numbers! But don't worry it is all explained. At the end of the day there are TONS of clubs to sign up for, your mentor will let you know about any new clubs or if they have been cancelled. Look out for our next entry in a couple of week's time! By Sarina Nana-Jogia & Amelia Roebuck (Year 7) |
