OCR National Cert in Business Level 3

Assessment

This two year course is equivalent to an A2 level in Business. The course gives students an in-depth understanding of business in the modern work place and provides an insight into how businesses work.

The course consists of six units, all of which are assessed using a portfolio of work. There are no examinations. This an alternative way of obtaining a Level 3 qualification for students who strengths lie in producing a portfolio of work rather than sitting examinations.

The four compulsory units are:
Investigating Business
Customer Service
Business Communications
Business Finance

Option units include topics such as e-marketing, Business Law and Human resource management.

These units will be completed throughout the course.

Entry Requirements

You will need 5 GCSEs grade A - C. Information Technology skills would also be helpful.

Exam Board: AQA

AS: Unit 1 (25%) - BUSS1 (Planning and Financing a Business)
Unit 2 (25%) - BUSS2 (Managing a Business)

A2: Unit 3 (25%) - BUSS3 (Strategies for Success)
Unit 4 (25%) - BUSS4 (The Business Environment and Managing Change)

 


Economics

Entry Requirements

You should have at least 5 GCSEs at Grade C or above, one of which should be Mathematics. You must have an interest in current affairs.

Assessment

Exam Board: OCR

You are examined throughout the two years of the course as you develop your abilities and skills. There will be two units of work in each year. The AS units cover microeconomics and macroeconomics and are assessed by two 11/2 hour exams. By having exams throughout the course, you will be able to get the result you deserve.
